Both when I was young and now?

Well I don't entirely remember then, but this one is my favorite now, and I'm sure it was one of them back then too...

Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss!

Especially the part where the tweedle beetles have the paddle battle in the bottle on the back of the noodle-eating poodle. Now that's a climax!

You're right that is an easy survey. No question my favorite book when I was a kid was Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things that Go.

Now it is My Big Word Book by Roger Priddy.

OK what on earth is easy about that question?? There are way too many to pick a favourite or to write them all here! :)

Of course Anne of GG is my fave overall, but for Children's Books, I love anything alphabet (Prairie/Seaside/Mountain Alphabet, Chickachickaboomboom, M is for Maple, Eh to Zed, etc.), Dr. Seuss, Corduroy or any other story where toys come to life, Robert Munsch, Eric Carle, and books with great artwork. I always liked classics like Heidi, Black Beauty, Tom Sawyer, National Velvet, and the Swiss Family Robinson as a child. Mom read to us a lot. Some of those are from my childhood, many I have fell in love with more recently.

What are your favourites then and now?

I'm too old to remember what I read when I was really little, but I liked the Little House on the Prairie series, Anne of Green Gables books, Cherry Ames a series about a nurse) and Freckles and The Girl of the Limberlost (some real oldies).
I also immensely enjoyed reading to our kids. My favorite book was We Were Tired of Living in a House. Ask Stew if he can quote part of it!! Dad loved the Winnie the Pooh books - he always got far more enjoyment out of them than the kids did. He often quoted lines at appropriate moments, kind of like Bonnie does with lines from Anne!
    Love, Mom

We were tired of living in a house. So we packed a bag with sweaters and socks and scarves and mittens and woolen caps. And we moved to a tree. We liked our tree....until we tumbled out. So we packed a bag....etc.
    :)
Anne line for the day...just for you and Mom.
Anne: Wilt thou give me a lock of thy jet black tresses?
Diana: (teary) But I don't have any black dresses.
    Ah, I love it.
